Joseph Clifford Wins MADD National President's Award

In front of an audience of more than 700 activists representing 48 states, Canada,
Guam, Japan, Puerto Rico and Sweden, Joe Clifford, MADD, Pennsylvania State Chair
was honored for outstanding work contributing to Mothers Against Drunk Driving's (MADD)
mission to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent
underage drinking. The prestigious award was presented by MADD National President
Glynn Birch at the organization's 25th anniversary national conference in Washington,
D.C.
"The work by Joe Clifford has positively impacted his community and State by
saving lives and preventing injuries," says Glynn Birch, MADD National President.
"The devoted effort of Joe Clifford is a reason why MADD is able to celebrate
the more than 300,000 lives saved since the organization was founded in 1980."

Joe Clifford received the prestigious Golden Achievement
Award in recognition of outstanding volunteerism and leadership and was instrumental
in the passing of .08 as the legal limit for alcohol impairment in Pennsylvania. He's
spearheaded many other projects across Pennsylvania such as IMPACT U, an underage
drinking prevention project and implemented a Restructuring Plan for all of MADD in
Pennsylvania to enhance services and programs.
In Pennsylvania in 2004 there were 518 alcohol related traffic deaths, making Pennsylvania
the fifth highest in the nation for alcohol-related traffic deaths (PENNDOT).
MADD is a 501(c)(3) charity with approximately 600 entities and 2 million members
and supporters.
